What is the Canada eTA
The eTA is required for visa-exempt travellers flying to Canada. It is linked to your passport.
It is not a visa
The eTA is a pre-authorization, not a visa. It is issued online, with no appointment and no interview.
It applies to flights to Canada. It is not required when entering by land or sea.
Linked to your passport
The authorization belongs to the passport you applied with. A new passport means a new application.
There is nothing to print: the airline checks it electronically.
Who needs one
Citizens of visa-exempt countries travelling by air, whether for tourism, business, transit or visiting family.
Children and infants each need their own eTA.
